Christ Like Mentors

Have you ever thought of yourself as a teacher? All of God’s children are instructors in one way or another because they are intended to be mentors of Christ’s teachings. In Matthew 28:18-20, Jesus said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you.”

As God’s children spread His doctrine to others, they shouldn’t forget to have righteous humility and compassion. All people are imperfect creatures and have sinned. Jude:20-23 reads, “But you, beloved, building yourselves up in your most holy faith and praying in the Holy Spirit, keep yourselves in the love of God, waiting for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ that leads to eternal life. And have mercy on those who doubt; save others by snatching them out of the fire; to others show mercy with fear, hating even the garment stained by the flesh.” People will be able to recognize God’s obedient children by their attitude and righteous works. Their obedience guides others toward the salvation that Christ gives because they become living representations of His teachings (Romans 12:1-2).

The Bible also teaches that God’s children should have an attitude of righteous love and humility when interacting with other members of His church. God has created each person to have their own talents and strengths in worshipping Him. A person who is better at public speaking might preach to their congregation and someone who is more technical savvy might manage the church’s website. Neither talent is greater than the other if they are righteously nurtured for the sake of Christ and His church. By doing so, church members become wonderful Christian mentors to all. Hebrews 10:24-25 reads, “And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.”
